Posted Plots and Plans, Social Commentary
inI am taking another day this month to recover some oomph, but this time I have a lot on my mind. This round of editing will not be as rapid fire as my Poetry page edit. I still wish to be done by days’ end. I aim to lay out my social commentary hub much like my gaming and aforementioned poetry hubs. Stay tuned.

I’ve found myself enough free time to quickly edit this page, so I shall. All the Poetry will be added to my blog post line. If you are reading this in real time, there will be some rapid re-posting from me.

inGood news first: I am now a Steam Curator! Unorthodox – Gaming Division is a group that you can follow on Steam. Any game that is reviewed per that group will appear on the respective items’ page. I am uncertain how to balance this with my personal reviews. I will tinker a bit and find out. I follow the Extra Credits Curator page, and I like how they manage their recommendations. On their Youtube channel they have a “Games You Might Not Have Tried” segment. I’ve mimicked their “not good, but interesting” tagline in my own rating system. All of their recommendations they feel are worthwhile for people interested in game development. And all of their recommendations are positive. I think that, for a time, I will mimic this too.
The review from Steam that is still proving to have traction is for Prototype. It’s an odd one, which is why I think it has continued getting attention.
My TL:DR Review on Prototype via Steam
As you can see, I don’t recommend the game even though I give it a 7/10 score. Why? It doesn’t run. There are some reports of elaborate workarounds, but all of those I have tried have still left me unable to play the game. Like many games, I owned and played it on the Xbox 360 some time ago. And of the near ninety games I have installed via Steam, it is the only one that doesn’t I can’t get into the actual game for. I had someone point out that older games likely need older drivers. This is one of the solutions I attempted. However, Prototype is far from the oldest game in my library.
This is just a handful. Now, some have been ported, some updated I admit. But with 100 games on the horizon and having one that doesn’t work, I can’t suggest dropping the money on a game I know is troublesome to get going. I may be showing my noob-ness to computer gaming by not being able to solve this. But I am letting my review stand as is.
In the middle-of-the-road report, I am going to be updating my site. Namely, I will be making my hub pages more organized and appealing. I really like how Gaming Garage is laid out, and with a limited number of pages tacked on to it. What this means is that I will be taking down pages presently linked to the hubs, re-posting them as blog entries, and then linking those into the hub. Unless the entry is a lengthier work, it will not retain its own page. When I get to it there may be a bit of post spam as this occurs. I think that it will serve both me and whoever visits this site to make this change.
What really spurned this on was a complete surprise to me. I watched people come into my site for gaming, and then jump over to the other writing avenues. I tell people all the time that gamers are more interested and invested in the wider world than stereotypes would have you believe. Seeing it firsthand I want to make it just as easy for those interested in my original fiction and social commentary to get around my site too.
The bad news is that real life comes to call, so it will likely be around this time next month when I can manage to implement a lot of these alterations. I’ll still eke out an entry or two as I can. Only so many hours in the day, and there are more pressing concerns than my work.
I hope you all have appreciated my works thus far and continue to support me when I come back to it. It has been game-heavy lately, but you’ll see more to me upon my return. Wherever you go from here, happy reading.

It has been a busy month. Aside from all the social plans and personal tasks, I gathered enough funding to buy the parts to assemble a new computer. It was a year of odd jobs to manage it. And, it being the first gaming device I’ve had all to myself in months, I may have spent just a little more time playing video games than was wholly constructive. That, as it is said, is on me. I have taken a solid look at all I’ve done the past year. Where I was when I started, and where I am now. I consider these things to answer one simply question.
What’s next?
Last year I just wanted to see what it felt like to write something… anything, consistently. I want to put the same level of time, energy, and passion into completing a single project. As I announced to my friends via social media, by this time next year I will have written a book. In my early twenties I got the idea for a video game story. I will instead stick to a novel. Since my last year was scattered, I will find a balance by being focused this year. I will complete a major project and see what comes of it.
What then, will happen to this site? Simply, it will be used as a journal. I am happy to have my fiction and poetry in a place where anyone can view them. But when I listen in on the world there are scenarios that I can’t help but think on. My writing has helped me research these topics. It has also given me greater understanding in the nuance of these situations. Continue to look forward to more of the same. While it may not be as well thought out as my past years’ work, it will likely be more frequent.
Aside from a potential face lift for my site this is what I aim to use the headlining pages for. Yes, I have an affinity for alliteration. Deal with it.
World Wide Web – Anything that is more than a quick rant about events going on will be posted here. I am making an effort to identify how interconnected many of the problems that plague us are. Or perhaps, more positively, how solutions to one problem can help abate or eliminate other problems tangentially.
Games’ Garage (formerly “Game Reviews”)– As I told a friend, “Reviews are the easiest way for the obsessed to legitimize their habits.” I have spent a good deal of my free time gaming and have drawn a lot from it. In the future, as I aim to build on these skills, I’ll put my thoughts and notations here, as cleanly as I can. This isn’t just the games, but also what I observe about them. This may come to include some talk on hardware and software as I use them.
Patrons’ Parlor – As before, those that help me via Patreon will have an inside view of my most pressing projects. There will be a teaser visible, but the rest will continue to be behind a wall.
At present, I do not get much in the way of feedback regarding the writing I post. But if you find your way to the end of this entry, thank you for your support. I hope and I dream. But in the meantime, I write. And I am happy. If you are as happy as I am, let us continue to do our parts, reader and author alike.
Here is to the second year, and many more to follow after that.
